AI applications in Healthcare

AI applications in Healthcare
The field of health AI is far-reaching and covers a large area from wellness to diagnostics to operational technologies.

The fields that are developed are listed accordingly:
  • ·         AI-assisted robotic surgery. In orthopaedic surgery, a form of AI-assisted robotics can analyse data from pre-op medical records to physically guide the surgeon’s instrument in real-time during a procedure. It can also use data from actual surgical experiences to inform new surgical techniques.
  • ·         AI-powered virtual nurse assistants have enormous potential in helping patients. The recently developed AI named Sensely’s “Molly” is an AI-powered nurse avatar being used by UCSF and the UK’s NHS to interact with patients, ask those questions about their health, assess their symptoms, and directs them to the most effective care setting.
  • ·         Errors and fraud also pose a dangerous issue for healthcare organizations and also for insurers. Fraud detection has traditionally relied on a combination of computerized (rules-based) and manual reviews of medical claims. It’s a time-consuming process that hinges on being able to quickly spot anomalies after the incident occurs in order to intervene. Health insurers are experimenting with AI-supported data mining, coupled with AI-based neural networks (which mimic the processes of the human brain, but much more quickly) to search Medicare claims for patterns associated with medical reimbursement fraud.
  • ·         Cybersecurity, on the other hand, has become one of the major concern for healthcare organizations. It monitors and detects abnormal interactions with proprietary data thereby reducing the Health record breaches.
  • ·         Other developments include the fields of Preliminary Diagnosis, Automated Image Diagnosis, Connected machines and many more.

These technologies get developed even better so that the organizations could focus better on the Healthcare and also the treatment and diagnosis becomes much easier.

Comments

  1. AI is already at work increasing convenience and efficiency, reducing costs and errors, and generally making it easier for more patients to receive the health care they need.
